Park Hall Extension

This project extended and re-organised an existing bungalow to create additional space. New rooms included a bedroom, utility room and bathroom. To maximise the use of the site and build right up to the angled boundary, a flat roof was necessary. This was designed to sit below the eaves level of the original roof. A buff brick wall subtly contrasts with the existing house and is capped with a simple concrete capping piece.

Park Hall Extension, Walsall

Our clients, a retired couple, had just purchased their new home, a two bedroom bungalow in the Walsall suburbs. They were looking to extend and reorganise the internal layout to create an additional bedroom, utility room and increase the size of their kitchen and bathroom.

One of the challenges was the triangular shape of the plot. To maximise the use of the site, the extension was to be built right up to the angled boundary. For this reason a flat roof was necessary, which we designed to sit below the eaves level of the original roof.

The design of the new front elevation is understated and simple to tie in with the street context and the existing building. A buff brick is used which subtly contrasts with the existing house and is capped with a simple concrete capping piece.
